He got it from the Bhagavad Gita. The original (in translation):

You have a right to your actions,
but never your actions' fruits.
Act for action's sake.
And do not be attached to inaction.

I did more research just now. It's Bhagavad-Gita, verses 2.47, translated by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. One of my favorite quotes.
